VIDEO: All you need to know about monkey pox

As the number of monkey pox infections rose in parts of Europe and North America, including Barbados’ main tourism markets, the Ministry of Health and Wellness issued a statement.

On Tuesday, health officials said they were in a state of vigilance and would continue “active surveillance with respect to the global situation and intended to keep the public informed of any public health developments of concern”.

The Nation’s Akeel Lovell spoke with virologist Dr Brendan Larder about monkey pox – its causes, symptoms, how it is spread and treatment options.
