Former LIAT (1974) Limited workers are facing foreclosures, repossessions, shut-off utilities and more as they continue their fight for their “entitlements”.
The latest chapter unfolded yesterday when a small group of pilots, a supporter and a former trade union leader, went to Parliament to deliver a petition before the House of Assembly convened.
The petition was supposed to be delivered to Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley but she had not arrived as yet, so it was handed to the Clerk of Parliament Pedro Eastmond, who came down to collect the document around 9:45 a.m.
Pilot Neil Cave spoke to the media about their plight.
“For more than two years we’ve been going through sleepless nights worrying about bills. We’ve had former colleagues who’ve had to flee the region and are living in basements and converted garages in places like [North America] and I just can’t understand it because these are people who served and contributed to the region. We are hoping morality kicks in and at least on moral grounds this suffering can be put to an end,” he said. (CA)

Its an utter disgrace that the pilots of the former LIAT (Leave Island Anytime) are being treated like strangers in a foreign land. Pay the pilots and other staff for their dedication and hard work when that mobility vehicle was functioning. It is not rocket science!
