Three Bajans for World meet

Three of the four Barbadian athletes who qualified for the World Athletics Championships, which starts this coming Friday in the American city of Eugene, will represent the country.

They are quarter-milers Sada Williams and Jonathan Jones, and sprint hurdler Shane Brathwaite.

Barbados’ team to the prestigious track and field meet, which runs until July 24, was announced yesterday evening by the Athletics Association of Barbados.

The fourth athlete, Tia Adana-Belle qualified based on world ranking, but she will not be able to participate in the United States.

The athletes will be accompanied by manager and coach Ramon Armstrong, and Dr Phyllis Burnett is the team medic. (AGB)
