Jones reaches men’s 400 final

Eugene – Jonathan Jones reached the final of the men’s 400 metres at the World Athletics Championships on Wednesday at the Hayward Field Stadium.

Jones, 23, produced a phenomenal performance to clock 44.78 seconds and finished third in heat three of the semi-finals.

American Champion Allison ran 44.71 secs to narrowly win the heat, 0.04 in front of world and Olympic record holder Wayne van Niekerk of South Africa.

Jones will have the sixth fastest qualifying time heading into the final on Friday.
