Three weeks after burying her mother, Delmour Harrison saw a lifetime of memories go up in smoke when a fire destroyed her mother’s home yesterday morning.
She is at a loss as to how the blaze, which occurred next door to her home in Harlington Road, St Philip, could have occurred.
Harrison said she was upstairs when she heard a man shouting: “Anybody inside! There is a fire!” It was just after 5 a.m.
“When I peeped through the window it was the neighbour calling ‘Fire! Fire!’ I looked through the window and saw the flames through the glass door. I tried to call the fire station but the number wouldn’t dial or anything. I woke up my son, not knowing what to do, and just ran down the road, and the others say they had called the fire station already,” she told the Saturday Sun.
Harrison said she did not try to enter the house because she did not know how far the fire had spread in the three-bedroom, concrete board house. (RA)
