Residents in Cleavers Hill, St Joseph, are hoping and praying for the safe return of missing resident Gloria Mayers.
Mayers, 66, was last seen around 5:15 p.m. on last Wednesday in Gaggs Hill, St Joseph, by residents of the area and has not been seen since.
At the time, she was wearing a dark-coloured flowered skirt, an orange sleeveless top, with a white scarf tied around her head.
When a Sunday Sun team visited the Cleavers Hill area on two occasions, Mayer’s family was not at home. However, residents spoke very highly of the elderly lady and said they were all sending up prayers for her.
One of Mayer’s neighbours, who asked not to be identified, said he last saw her on Wednesday and was shocked to hear that she was missing.
“She’s a pleasant woman. I gave it a little thought and I feel she will just reappear. This is the first time something like this has ever happened. She’s a housewife, so she’s here most of the day. I haven’t even had a chance to really process it. I don’t have any bad vibe about it. I feel she will come back safe and sound. I just want to remain optimistic and hope it comes to an end real soon,” he said.
Another neighbour, who also requested anonymity, said he could not remember the last time he saw Mayers but described her as a very nice lady. (DB)
