COVID-19 Update for August 20

Barbados recorded 146 new COVID-19 cases, 71 males and 75 females, from the 530 tests conducted at laboratories across the island on Saturday, August 20.

Of the positive cases, 26 people were under the age of 18, and 120 were 18 years and older.

There were 74 people in isolation facilities, while 2 632 were in home isolation.

No deaths were recorded yesterday, so the number of COVID-19-related deaths remains at 530.

The health laboratories have conducted 748 776 tests since February 2020 and recorded 99 572 COVID-19 cases (44 998 males and 54 574 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 163 124 (71.4 per cent of the eligible population).

The number of people who are fully vaccinated is 154 271 (67 642 males and 86 629 females), which represents 56.9 per cent of the total population or 67.5 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.  (BGIS)
