COVID-19 Update for August 21

Barbados recorded 118 new COVID-19 cases, 60 males and 58 females, from the 391 tests conducted on Sunday, August 21, by laboratories across the island.

The positive cases comprised 12 people under the age of 18, and 106 who were 18 years and older.

There were 68 people in isolation facilities, while 2 452 were in home isolation.

Two people, a 74-year-old woman and a 77-year-old man, passed away from the virus on Sunday.

As at August 21, there were 532 COVID-19 related deaths.

The laboratories conducted 749 167 tests since February 2020, and recorded 99 690 COVID-19 cases (45 058 males and 54 632 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 163 135 (71.4 per cent of the eligible population).

The number of fully vaccinated is 154 278 (56.9 per cent of the total population or 67.5 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
