The police officer involved in an accident on January 19 in Holetown, St James, has lost his leg.
Police public relations officer Acting Inspector Roland Cobbler said that Sergeant Reginald Blackman, 44, was out of hospital and would now be going through therapy and rehabilitation.
Blackman, who is a cycle cop assigned to the Holetown Station, was involved in a collision with a car driven by British visitor Koeytien Kho.
It was the second accident in which Blackman had suffered injuries in the last two plus years. He broke both legs and wrists in an accident in June, 2015, after he was involved in a hit-and-run accident along Bank Hall, St Michael, involving a white Toyota car. He was thrown from his motorcycle.
Cobbler said he could not tell whether Blackman would return to work sometime in the future.
“Because of his ability and the fact that he was an outstanding worker, I am quite sure the organisation will find an area in the force where his tenacity and skills can still be utilised,” he added. (YB)
