Phoenix Security Services Carlton proved the first round was no fluke, again upsetting defending women’s champions UWI Blackbirds in the Goddard Enterprises Limited Division One volleyball league.

Carlton toppled the Blackbirds 25-20, 14-25, 19-25, 27-25, 15-12 on Wednesday in the second round at the Wildey Gymnasium.

It came exactly ten days after they dealt the Blackbirds a loss to close out the first round.

Chargers, who were hoping to stay in contention for the title, also lost 22-25, 25-20, 17-25, 25-22, 12-15 to Deacons.

In the other women’s match, Development Volleyball in Motion (DVM) blew away Pan American Insurance Warrens 25-18, 25-20, 25-15.

Burger King Clapham Toners continue to top the tables with 27 points, one more than UWI. They are followed by Deacons on 24, and Carlton and DVM on 22, while Chargers slipped to 21.
