The absence of a doctor in the Supreme Court yesterday prompted Justice Christopher Birch to adjourn the murder case of Raheem Ricardo Hinds in the No. 5A Court yesterday.
Hinds, 38, of Phillips Road, Pinelands, St Michael, is accused of murdering Michael Yearwood on March 26, 2015.
Justice Birch adjourned the matter until next Wednesday, after Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale informed the court he was ready to close his case but recognised the doctor who had pronounced Yearwood dead had not yet given evidence in the matter.
“There had to be a doctor who pronounced death. We need to have that doctor because we want all matters in the case file covered,” the prosecutor informed the court.
He bemoaned such scenarios, saying it was little issues like that which continued to aid in the current backlog and length of time it took to complete some cases in the judiciary. (BA)
