Man facing four drug charges

Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and charged Jefferson Asa Ricardo Yearwood, 48, of Cane Garden, St Andrew, with a number of drug related offences. The offences were allegedly committed on Tuesday, February 20 at Cane Garden, St Andrew.

Yearwood was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to supply, trafficking cannabis, and cultivation of cannabis.

Members of the Drug Squad conducted an operation at Cane Garden, St Andrew. During the surveillance of a plot of land which was partially fenced, several cannabis plants were seen under cultivation within the enclosure. On entering the enclosed plot of land, Yearwood was seen and was arrested.

A total of 66 cannabis plants, approximately 6 feet tall were seized. Yearwood was subsequently charged for the offences.

Yearwood appeared before Magistrate Ian Weekes in the District D Court on today. He pleaded guilty to the offences and was remanded to prison to reappear in Court on March 6, for sentencing. (PR)
