Chief Executive Officer of Export Barbados, Mark Hill, says more private sector-driven initiatives like the Kloth Lifestyle Holiday Pop-Up Shop and Expo are needed to encourage entrepreneurship.

He was speaking at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre in Two Mile Hill, St Michael yesterday where about 120 booths displayed jewellery, pastries and clothing.

“. . . What Kloth is providing is that expo service and sometimes we think that Government has to do everything like put on the BMEX and the different things, but private sector initiatives like this have to be encouraged. So we are on board with her [organiser Khadijah Millar] so that she can continue to grow this initiative and in that way, then Government can back out of certain things and let the private sector drive it forward,” he said.

Millar, who has hosted the event for the last four years, said since 2018 it has grown from 17 vendors. (Nation News)
