The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) is also calling on Government to speed up the salary negotiation process for public servants.

On Wednesday, General Secretary of the Congress of Trade Union and Staff Association of Barbados, Dennis DePeiza, said there was only one preliminary meeting in four months, and unlike past negotiations, workers could not afford to wait.

In joining the call, NUPW General Secretary Richard Green said they have written to the Ministry of the Public Service expressing disappointment about the amount of time it was taking to return to the table.

“We also informed them that we want to have the negotiations concluded in the first two weeks of the year. It is worrying that they have acknowledged our letter but have not given any confirmation on the next date for the start of the negotiations,” Green said.  (Nation News)
