Barbados reclaimed their place in the Davis Cup World Group 2 after defeating Pacific Oceania 3-2 in their World Group 2 playoff tie yesterday at the National Tennis Centre in Wildey.

Twenty-year-old Kaipo Marshall was entrusted with salvaging the tie for the hosts after Pacific Oceania’s doubles victory earlier in the day.

Marshall defeated Clement Mainguy 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 after losing his opening match with their number one Colin Sinclair on Friday.

Marshall was bested in the first set but showed an unwavering resilience to come back from the brink of defeat in the second set and eventually win the third and decisive set comfortably.  (NM)
