Shawn Leo Phillips, of Chimborazo, St Joseph, has denied murdering Melissa Amanda Davis, 27, formerly of Bird Hill, Haggatt Hall, St Michael, sometime between November 28 and December 5, 2008.

Accused Shawn Leo Phillips told Melissa Amanda Davis’ mother that he was sorry for killing her daughter and that if someone had killed his, he would kill them.

This was contained in the deposition of Euphemia Davis, which was read to the No. 3 Supreme Court yesterday.

She gave her deposition in 2011 but died in 2016. It was read into evidence by senior legal assistant Patterson Boyce.

The mother stated that she went to Glebe Police Station in St George where she saw the accused in the custody of two lawmen. She was shown baking pans and a purse, which she identified as belonging to her daughter.

“The accused and I had a talk. We talked about where Melissa’s death is concerned,” Boyce read. “The accused told me he sorry for killing my daughter. I turn and tell him, ‘You sorry? You sorry? You sorry?’ You know what it is like her little girl crying every night saying she want her mother and I crying too?’ (HLE)
