Gabby’s grandson shot dead during robbery at NY shop

Cultural ambassador, The Most Honourable Anthony Mighty Gabby Carter lost his 20-year-old grandson to gun violence in the United States over the weekend.

Reports indicate that Gabby’s grandson Daryus Clarke, a resident of the Bronx, in New York City, was killed on the job during a daring daylight armed robbery on Saturday.

Clarke was employed at The Plug smoke shop along Jamaica Avenue in Richmond Hill, when a group of men entered the business just after midday  and robbed it.

Officers from the City’s 102nd Precinct responded after the alarm was raised, and found Clarke, of Dillon Street, with a shot to the chest.

He was transported to Jamaica Hospital Centre, but was pronounced dead.

Police investigations have already unearthed that three men were involved in the robbery, with one brandishing a gun, while the other two took US$100 and several smoke products. When the trio was leaving the shop, one of them discharged the firearm, hitting Clarke in the chest.

A manhunt for the trio is underway. (BA)
