Fines for siblings arrested at school sports

The two siblings arrested at Christ Church Girls’ School’s sports day yesterday were fined today after pleading guilty to separate offences.

Twenty-one-year-old Rommel Rishon Clarke and 27-year-old Trinia Norella Clarke, both of 1st Avenue, Green Hill Drive, Silver Hill, Christ Church appeared before Magistrate Elwood Watts in the Oistins Magistrates’ Court today.

Rommel was charged for the offence of trespassing while his sister was charged with assaulting police officer in the execution of her duty, obstructing a police officer in the execution of her duty, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and criminal damage.

The two were arrested after officers spoke to a number of adults who were on a section of the pasture at Christ Church Foundation School drinking alcohol and smoking. There were asked to leave the premises.

Rommel was arrested for trespassing and while he was being led away by police, Trinia intervened and placed herself between her brother and the officers, committing the offences in the process.

Rommel will have to pay $200 in 14 days or spend 14 days in prison.

Trinia has to pay $500 in a month or spend seven days in prison for the offence of obstruction.

For the offence of criminal damage she has 14 days in which to pay $1 000. If she does not pay, she will spend 40 days in prison.

In addition, she has six weeks to pay $2 000 for the offence of occasioning actual bodily harm. The alternative punishment is six weeks in prison.

Trinia was convicted, reprimanded and discharged for the offence of assault. (PR/NB)
