One-Day International (ODI) cricket has returned to the Kensington Oval for the opener in the three-match series, as West Indies host India today and Saturday.
After 12 overs, West Indies reached 63-3 having been sent to bat by Indian captain Rohit Sharma.
Seamer Mukesh Kumar, who was making his ODI debut, snared the second wicket, dismissing left-hander Alick Athanaze for 22, caught brilliantly at point by Ravindra Jadeja in the eighth over.
Earlier, in just the third over, Kyle Mayers was caught at mid-on by Sharma for two, after trying to advance to a rising delivery from Hardik Pandya, who opened proceedings from the Malcolm Marshall end.
The last wicket to fall was Brandon King, 17 from 23 balls, bowled by first-change bowler Shardul Thakur.
Shai Hope is unbeaten on 11 from 14 deliveries, with Shimron Hetmyer not out on three.
A moderate crowd, including hundreds of school children, strolled into the ‘mecca’ to take in the action.
