Barbados’ national under-15 football team commenced their 2023 Concacaf Boys Under-15 Championship a day late with a 0-0 draw with Guyana on Monday evening at the Ergilio Hato Stadium in Willemstad, Curaçao.

The Renaldo Gilkes-coached unit was set to depart the island last Friday, but travel issues delayed the team’s departure until Sunday when their game against Guyana was first planned to be played at 4 p.m.

With some of the other 41 teams experiencing travel issues ahead of the competition, Concacaf sought to remedy the situation with the rescheduling of several games, including Barbados’ clash with Guyana.

Prior to departure from Grantley Adams International Airport on Sunday, head coach Gilkes was quietly confident of his team putting on a good show.  (NM)
