Eight more succumb to COVID-19

Barbados recorded eight more COVID-19 deaths from August 5 to 18, as total deaths from the viral illness reached 629.

Over the same period, there were 276 new cases from 781 tests conducted at laboratories across the island.

Total COVID-19 cases stand at 109 950, comprising 49 531 men and 60 419 women.

Six people were hospitalised.

The number of fully vaccinated remained unchanged at 155 045 or 57.2 per cent of the population. About 60.5 (163 853) per cent have received at least one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine. (PR/SAT)
