Fire officers training for EV response

Firefighters are being trained to respond in cases of emergencies involving electric vehicles as the machines increase on the island.

Chief Fire Officer Errol Maynard said the training initiative began as a way to ensure their members were equipped to manage all possible hazards borne out of the technological advances in society.

Fifty trainees will cover various components of electrical vehicle as first responders.

“While we haven’t encountered any significant incidents involving electric vehicles as yet this training embodies our proactive approach to readiness and preparedness. . .  (JRN)
