‘Hot’ spots

Steve Forde challenges people’s way of thinking concerning exotic dancers.

The owner of The Chocolate Factory, which features mostly male dancers, said it was all about selling a fantasy experience which in turn could actually benefit people’s love lives.

“Why shouldn’t women be happy? Why shouldn’t they have a little fantasy in their lives? If they go back home and ask their guys to do some of what the dancers do on stage, it could improve their sex lives and actually keep people loyal.

“People cheat because they are looking for a better sex drive but if we can show them something they can use at home, then it can keep people faithful,” he said.

Of course, not everyone shares this line of thinking, and Forde said he could recall many times he had been threatened by irate men whose significant others had attended one of the shows he has put on.

But let us go back to where it all started, more than 20 years ago in New York City.

“Back then we were doing a lot of big shows in the tri-state area where a guy named Devon Levy brought in artists to perform but we realised we had nothing but women in the audience so we thought, ‘How we were going to keep them occupied?” he said. (CA)
