An employer has been warned of possible prosecution if the company does not rehire its fired employee who sat as a juror in the last Sessions.

The caution has come from Justice Carlisle Greaves as he underscored the importance of jurors and companies releasing employees to perform jury service.

“One of the cases that has come to my attention last year is one of the jurors, who was with us and refused a deferral, has been fired by her firm. They know who they are. Paid out. Fired.

“You know who you are. I am going to suggest you open your window and your door to your heart and let her back in, else you will be subject to serious prosecution,” the judge warned.

He made the comments as he welcomed jurors to the No. 3 Supreme Court and dealt with a number of requests for exemptions. (HLE)
