Paradise Super Cup queens

A strike from defender Shanelle Als led the women footballers of Paradise Club to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ensure Max Protein Weymouth Wales in the inaugural Women’s Super Cup final on Sunday night at the Wildey Turf.

In the 27th minute, Paradise grabbed hold of the ball from a set play and Als did just enough to hit the ball past Wales’ entire backline and the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper, Kamillah Burke.

That eventual winning goal, certainly made up for an earlier opportunity missed by Ashanee Thompson with a powerful shot that hit the crossbar and deflected away from danger.

Paradise, coached by Daniel Rowe, topped the standings with 14 points after three wins and two draws followed by Wales with a total of ten points enroute to the finals. (ML)
