Washington DC’s Barbadian community donating to hurricane relief and science education

Two organisations are set to receive charitable donations from the Embassy of Barbados in Washington DC, the United States offices of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) and the Barbados Association of Washington DC Inc. (BAWDC), next week.

They are the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) and the Caribbean Science Foundation (CSF) which will be presented with the funds on Monday, January 15, in a brief ceremony at The Crane Resort in St Philip.

The event gets underway at 10 a.m.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean, who attended the overseas gala, will be present at the ceremony.

Ambassador of Barbados to the United States, Selwin Hart, Director (USA) BTMI, Petra Roach, and President of the BAWDC, David Thompson, will present cheques in the amount of BDS$10 000 towards CDEMA’s hurricane relief efforts and CSF’s Student Programme for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE).
