Taking time to reflect

In this week’s On Point column, Editor in Chief Carol Martindale highlighted Bridgetown and the “miserable” state it is in.“

The City is not a pretty sight anymore, and I often wonder what tourists to our country think when they visit. Bridgetown is definitely not what it used to be and it is high time more was done to lift our capital.

The addition of the Monument To The Barbadian Family and the steles featuring the ten National Heroes unveiled in the National Heroes Square last November that replaced Nelson’s statue, as well as Golden Square Freedom Park, have helped to redeem our City.

However, take a walk along Broad Street and you will see that more can be done to spruce up the area. I am curious to hear the views of business people and retailers working in the area.

We can do so much better than this”.

She also reflected on her holiday, where she witnessed beautiful sunsets in the Cayman Islands.

  1. My dear friend, I have been saying this for years.

It’s a shame that such a once beautiful area has become to such!

I guess the visitors are only interested in the water and sand.
Because there really isn’t anything to see from what I’ve observed during my visits.
The streets are line with homeless, and dope head people.
Maybe that’s why nothing has been done to BridgeTown!
The people of Barbados need to get smart and use some of the free laborers they have.
Everyone with two hands and legs can work.
Barbadians are famous for long talks and not much else.
