NSTEAD OF GOVERNMENT INTENDING to spend an estimated $8 million of tax payers’ money to buy part of Drax Hall Plantation in St George, the land owners should be making reparation to the people of Barbados and the development of the parish.

That is the view of David Denny, general secretary of the Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration, who was reacting to the news out of England about the proposed sale, saying he “will object to the Government of Barbados’ position in terms of using taxpayers’ money to acquire this property”.

“This property must be given to the people of Barbados by Richard Drax as part of our reparation call,” Denny told the DAILY NATION.

“This really was the belly of slavery in Barbados. Everything evolves from the Drax Hall plantation.” (SAT)

  1. I would agree with the Grovernment in buying this Land and all lands back as for the short term this will be a cost to the Brabadain taxpayers whoever, in the long term this is a great way to secure the land for the young Barbadians fir the future. Why waste more time waiting for these people to give back kand. Reparation is used for good talking points
