Christmas was a bumper period in the country’s hotel sector. But Old Year’s and the first part of 2018 are also set to draw blushes.
From the rugged South Coast to the more popular platinum West Coast, hotel rooms are full, and most are expected to stay that way in the first month of 2018.
Risha Daniel, public relations manager at Sandy Lane Hotel, one of the country’s most luxurious West Coast properties, told the SUNDAY SUN they were happy about their bookings.
“We have a two-week minimum stay for our guests, and at the moment we are completely full, and will be fully booked for the rest of the year. We expect the same levels of occupancy in January as well, which is a great way to start 2018,” Daniel said.
General manager of the Fairmont Royal Pavilion, Tom Lefkovits, was over the moon because his property had surpassed projections for the first quarter of 2018. “We are over 90 per cent for the New Year’s holidays so we are very happy about that. January, February and March are all looking pretty good. We believe we are going to do much better than our budget,” he said. (BA)
