Persistent afternoon rain forced the abandonment of the International Cricket Council Men’s T20 World Cup match between England and Scotland at Kensington Oval today.

Only ten overs were bowled in the Group B match in which Scotland did well to post 90 without loss.

The match was called at 2:50 p.m. after another shower prevented England from taking to the middle to begin their run-chase.

In the limited play that was possible, Scotland openers Michael Jones and George Munsey played positively to score at nine runs an over.

Jones hit an unbeaten 46 off 30 balls while the left-handed Munsey weighed in with 41 not out from 30 balls.

The start of play was delayed by almost an hour and the first interruption came after 6.2 overs when Scotland were 51 without loss.

On resumption, the match was reduced to ten overs a team and the Scots added another 39 runs from 3.4 overs before rain had the final say. (HG)
