Commissioner of Police Richard Boyce has called a press conference today to deal with the controversial death of homeless man Albert John.
The 62-year-old, who police said was from Kensington New Road, The City, died on November 3, the same day he presented himself at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with injuries. Since then, his death has been the subject of public debate after reports circulated that he had been beaten by a group in King Street, also in The City.
On Sunday, John’s son Shawn Francis, who lives in Austria, joined the chorus of voices calling for a re-examination of his father’s case in reaction to a press release from the police last Friday stating that a post-mortem conducted by a Government pathologist revealed the death was due to “natural causes”.
Francis was at the time speaking on Starcom Network’s Brass Tacks Sunday radio call-in programme. (AC)
