The tourists are coming and new air services from the United Kingdom and Newark are bringing them in.
That’s the word from two players in the tourism industry as the 2017/2018 winter season gets into full swing this month.
The head of the Elegant Group of Hotels and past president of the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA) Sunil Chatrani, as well as the chief executive officer of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), William ‘Billy’ Griffith, said indications were that this winter season would be a good one. In fact, Griffith said the season looked like it might be better than last year’s.
The CEO of the BTMI said while there was only anecdotal evidence in the early days of the winter season, reports coming in were that the season was good. Griffith said both long-stay and cruise visitor arrivals were “trending well” and those in the industry were optimistic about continued growth. (HLE)
