TWO BARBADIANS wrote their names in the record books yesterday.
Shane Dowrich and captain Jason Holder scored centuries and featured in a record eighth-wicket partnership that put West Indies on course to complete victory over Zimbabwe in the second and final Test at the Queen’s Sports Club in Bulawayo.
Dowrich’s 103 was his maiden Test hundred, while Holder’s 110 was his second. Their partnership of 212 was the highest eighth-wicket stand for West Indies in a Test.
It was also only the second time – the first being in 1908 – in 109 years that a No. 8 and No. 9 scored centuries in the same Test innings. (HG)
