Denesh Ramdin’s return to regional first-class with a magnificent century against Barbados Pride in their own backyard at Kensington Oval on Friday has already sparked plenty of debate about whether he should be recalled to the West Indies team.
With incumbent, Barbadian Shane Dowrich, enduring a horrible time, both as batsman and wicketkeeper during the West Indies’ last three Test series aturally the aficionados and armchair selectors are starting to look at other options.
Present-day wicketkeepers are scrutinised and judged more for what they do with the bat than with the gloves and those who fail to make runs on a consistent basis are usually cast aside.
Lest we forget, the 25-year-old Dowrich started his international career as a specialist batsman in the two Tests against Australia when he batted at No.4. (EZS)
