A Government minister is calling for the dismantling of the “old boys’ network” of consultant physicians with hospital contracts at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

Speaking in the House of Assembly yesterday, former Minister of Health Donville Inniss was critical of what he considered an outdated system.

“My view is that the contracts between the consultants at the QEH and the QEH need to be thrown through the window. It is not relevant to 2017,” said the outspoken MP who now holds the portfolio of Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development.

While making his submission on a money resolution for the completion of the David Thompson Health and Social Services Complex in St John, Inniss conceded there were issues about which Opposition parliamentarians had complained that he thought ought to be addressed. (GC)
