‘Timing critical’ with IMF move

Timing is key in any decision to go to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). And chances are that the Democratic Labour Party Government won’t be making that move any time soon.

That’s according to economist and senior lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Dr Troy Lorde.

In an interview with the Sunday Sun, Lorde said he would wager that if an IMF programme was implemented in Barbados, it wouldn’t be until after the upcoming elections next year.

He explained that it usually took some time to design an IMF programme. (CM)
