Defending champions Springer Memorial led a number of lopsided home advantage scores when the Barbados Secondary Schools Netball League Under-19 competition started on Thursday.

With Jada Smith leading the way as goal shoot with 25 goals from 34 attempts, Springer crushed the visiting Ellerslie Secondary 48-5. The talented Rashanna Thorne contributed 19 of 24 as the goal attack while Shawnelle Trotman scored four of 11 when given a run as goal shoot.

Springer Memorial enjoyed quarters advantages of 16-3, 26-4 and 39-5. Brianna Harvey scored three goals while Ayesha Edwards added two for Ellerslie who managed just ten shots for the entire match.

The defence of the imposing Diamond Hollingsworth over from Lester Vaughan and Sierra Coward caused misery for Ellerslie in the shooting circle. The centre court of Julisa Boyce, Reniqua Lyle-Griffith and Rhenea Gaskin also destroyed any possible counter from Ellerslie.

Christ Church Foundation whipped St George Secondary 48-7 with The St Michael School being the deadliest in demolishing Daryll Jordan 59-1. (KB)
