Preferred Insurance Brokers Pinelands aren’t ready to give up their title just yet, having forced a decisive Game 3 in the No.1 Beauty Supplies and Beauty Exchange Women’s basketball finals via Sunday’s series-levelling 58-42 win over Lady Cougars at the Wildey Gymnasium.
Getting back to their favoured transition style of play, the defending champs closed the contest on a whirlwind 17-2 run after holding Cougars to just three fourth-quarter points to send the finals to a winner-takes-all showdown tomorrow.
It was the kind of championship-type performance that this desperate Pinelands side needed while facing elimination following Toni Atherley’s Game 1 masterpiece. (JM)
