Drivers master slippery Sprint

Spectacular driving in slippery conditions was the highlight of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) double-header Winter Sprint from Oxford to Lamberts, St Lucy, on Sunday.

While Sol Rally Barbados triple champion Jeff Panton, driving the Ford Focus WRC06, tightened his grip at the top of the overall standings, it was some spectacular driving from Stuart McChlery, Rhett Watson, Andrew Jones, Avinash Chatrani and Wayne Archer, which kept spectators on their toes throughout the morning’s action.

Jamaican Panton maintained his 100 per cent record in the 2017 BRC Drivers and Class Championships, with one round to go.

With only Roger Hill, at the wheel of the Toyota Corolla WRC to contend with in the WRC class, Panton scored reduced points and posted the fastest time over the first route of 1 minute, 15.11 seconds. He still leads the champion driver title chase and also the four-wheel drive championship. (TT)
