The screams and thunderous applause that echoed from the Queen’s College school hall were symbolic of the light Shai and Kyle Hope brought to their alma mater with their achievements thus far on the cricket field.

During morning assembly yesterday, teachers, as well as present and former students, made time during their week of activities to honour the two brothers who have lived up to their schools motto to Carry The Light (Fiat Lux).

Among those who came out to congratulate the West Indies cricketers were past members of the school’s cricket team such as Barbados cricketer Anthony Alleyne and Combined Campuses and Colleges cricketers Nekoli Parris and Raymond Bynoe.

Two-time Olympian and former student Freida Nicholls encouraged students to discover the benefits that could be gained from the involvement in sport and academics. (RG)
