THE ROUTE TAXI driver whose “milkshake” of ZR125 led to the accident that resulted in the amputation of a schoolgirl’s arm was fined a total of $3 000 when he appeared in the District “A” Traffic Court yesterday.

Matthew Ricardo Daniel, 43, of Licorish Village, My Lord’s Hill, St Michael, is also today unable to drive any kind of vehicle for the next 18 months after his licence was revoked and he has a jail term of 30 days hanging over his head should he try.

Daniel was back in the court yesterday for sentencing after he was convicted in July of wanton driving, dangerous driving, driving without due care and attention and driving without reasonable consideration for other road users on June 9, 2015.

Daniel was the driver of the route taxi that overturned near the Nursery Drive Terminal, skidded and injured 22 passengers, mainly schoolchildren. (HLE)
