BWA, BWU in ongoing talks

The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) is engaged in ongoing deliberations with the Barbados Workers Union (BWU) regarding increments and salary adjustments.

The BWA and the BWU last met on September 19, under the chairmanship of Senator Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo, Minister of Labour and Social Security, where it was recognised that the matter of salary adjustments, particularly for management, has to be dealt with at the level of the parent ministry the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management through the Authority’s board of directors.

This is necessary as the requested salary adjustments fall outside the remit of the BWA.

In a bid to maintain an amicable relationship between the BWA and the BWU and out of respect for the resolution process led by Minister Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo, the Authority will reserve comment on this issue at this time.

The management of the BWA remains committed to finding a solution in the best interest of its workers, customers, suppliers and the nation. (PR)
