Workers of the Barbados Water Authority have joined their Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation counterparts in protest action.
This morning they gathered outside the Pine, St Michael media organisation with placards in hand to show their solidarity.
They then began to march towards the nearby BWA.
Barbados Workers’ Union general secretary Toni Moore had warned on Friday that strike action at CBC could escalate.
The protests began following a breakdown between the union and CBC management over the payment of increments.
CBC chairman Peter Earle told reporters the BWU’s demands were tantamount to a salary increase.
Meanwhile, CBC general manager Doug Hoyte said giving to the union’s demands could result in the $124 million debt-saddled media house sending home several of its 246 workers. (BN)
