Barbados may be overrun with youngsters in the criminal element currently plaguing society, but don’t think for a moment that the Royal Barbados Police Force’s Juvenile Liaison Scheme isn’t playing its part in helping troubled young people.
Inspector Stephen Griffith, the man responsible for managing the scheme, said the entity remained one of the police’s most important departments and continued to come up with programmes aimed at keeping youth off the streets and out of the courts.
“The Juvenile Liaison Scheme is alive and well for sure. We are stretched and our officers are working very hard. They don’t call in sick. They are dedicated to helping young people who have proven to be problematic for their parents,” Griffith said in a recent interview.
He said the scheme was still extremely active, working behind the scenes at a time when the behaviour of young people has been under the microscope. (BA)
