Barbados Football Association (BFA) technical director Sulieman Nunes has described the Barbados Under-15 team’s showing at the recent CONCACAF Boys Under-15 Championship as part of a “trough” in their development cycle.

Speaking at the Grantley Adams International Airport in his temporary capacity as head coach, Nunes reflected on the campaign in Aruba, where Barbados lost all three group matches to finish bottom of League B Group E with no points and a goal difference of minus seven.

“I would assess it in terms of the competition was about development. And although they won the CFU last year, we have to look at development in terms of peaks and troughs. So, we had a peak last year, this is a trough this year,” he said.

Barbados lost their opening fixture 3-2 against Bermuda, having been up 2-0. They then suffered consecutive 3-0 defeats to Antigua & Barbuda and Trinidad & Tobago to close out the group stage.
