WHILE THE NEW Miss Universe Barbados was being showered with confetti, murmurs of discontent were floating around the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on Saturday night.

Lesley Chapman-Andrews was crying tears of joy, overwhelmed by a dream come true and a powerful statement previously made of being Miss Universe Barbados, but many in the audience were not pleased.

“You mean dem do it again?”; “So they can’t get it right a second year straight?”; “How Jamilah [Forde] placed second again?” were some of the more audible reactions.

Chapman-Andrews walked away with over $100 000 in prizes and the chance to represent Barbados at the Miss Universe pageant in November. (NS)
