18-year-old on murder charge

Carlos Antonio Barton was remanded to Dodds Prison on Saturday after appearing in court, charged with the murder of Daron Devere Ellis.

Barton, 18, of Garden Land, Country Road, St Michael, was not required to plead to the indictable offence.

He appeared before Magistrate Ian Weekes in the District ‘A’ Criminal Court No. 1 and the matter was transferred to District ‘A’ Criminal Court No. 2, where he is scheduled to reappear on Friday, September 12.

The body of Ellis, 33, formerly of Long Gap, Spooner’s Hill, St Michael, was discovered in the carpark of the Abundant Life Assembly at Bank Hall with stab wounds on May 31.

A relative later identified the body. (PR/SAT)
