IT WAS A SHOW of unity yesterday as Barbadians reached into their pockets and opened  their wallets to help their brothers and sisters in some of the hurricane-ravaged islands in the region.

Through the efforts of the The Nation Group and the Rotary Clubs in Barbados, the We Care: One People, One Caribbean Radiothon proved to be a success.

Nearly 300 donors made pledges between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to raise $130 000 to help those affected by Hurricane Irma two weeks ago.

They did so by pledging money on the radio, putting money into tins carried by volunteers through The City and even using online means to raise funds via www.pitchandchoose.com. (AD)
