IF YOUR DAUGHTER or niece says she has been sexually assaulted, believe her!

That’s what Dr Rhonda Hutson, an associate lecturer at the University of the West Indies, said as she addressed the Business and Professional Women’s Club on Thursday night during a meeting at Baobab Tower in Warrens, St Michael.

Hutson, a sexual assault forensic examiner and sports medicine physician, said that girls who reported they were molested should not be asked, “Are you sure?”, especially if the other person involved happens to be a boyfriend or daddy.

“Whether you ask her out of disbelief or out of fear, out of whatever, if your daughter comes to you or your niece comes to you and says, ‘Somebody is assaulting me’, don’t say, ‘Are you sure?’ . . . You must believe it.” (GBM)
