BARBADIAN BUSINESSMAN Hal Martin is dead.

Starcom Network today reported the hotelier passed away in the United States on Monday after a brief illness.

Martin was the owner of the Regency Cove Hotel in Hastings, Christ Church.

An accountant by profession, Martin was one of those people who called for the decriminalisation of marijuana, saying there was a “two-faced” approach to the practice in the Caribbean which resulted in young men being incarcerated for the offence.

In an interview with the SATURDAY SUN in September 2014, he urged the Caribbean to position itself to capitalise on the economic benefits expected to be derived from medical marijuana. (SAT)
